About Us

Bigmore Associates was founded when Britain had just switched over to decimal currency, we had not yet joined the E.C. and a 3-bedroom house in Walton on Thames cost £8,000. We are a financial services business which provides independent financial advice to a broad range of private individuals, trusts and small businesses.
The business is run from offices in Walton on Thames, Surrey, but provides financial counselling, financial planning, investment management and asset protection services to clients spread across the UK and Internationally. In line with the demands of our busy clients we do not insist on meeting all clients at our Surrey base.
We have never grown too big. Our first concern is always to offer our existing clients the best financial advice and service we can. So when you become a client of Bigmore Associates you will know we have the capacity to do the same for you.
We are frank about fees. You will always know in advance how much our services will cost…..we do not like to be surprised by fees and we know our clients do not either.
We specialise in Wealth Management, Financial Planning and provide Mortgage Services, and Life & Health Protection Planning.

We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and our Firm Reference Number is 446399.

Once we recognise the requirements and the constraints we will then build a personalised plan to meet your needs and review this regularly over time. Financial advice covers a wide variety of topics and can mean different things to different people. We deal with clients with needs varying from buying their first home to managing large and complex investment portfolios. Regardless of your needs we treat all our clients the same way and with the same level of attention.

Advice may relate to a specific need such as drawing from a pension plan or arranging suitable life assurance but typically individual’s financial requirements are all interlinked. We take a holistic approach to financial planning and ensure any individual advice areas are considered as part of a wider goal of meeting your short and long term aims.

Fees & Charges

We offer a free initial consultation where we will assess your overall financial position and gain an understanding of your requirements. Our charges are typically based on an overall fee for the project we undertake for you so will reflect the complexity, likely timescales and scale of the work. Once we have a gauge of the project work we will then provide and accurate quote and wont undertake and chargeable business without your express consent.

All charges/fees will be fully disclosed to you. These will be disclosed in summary form before we undertake any work for you. The precise charges relating to any work or recommendations we make will be confirmed in your suitability report or relevant product disclosure information that is provided to you.  There is no additional cost to you for using a means of distance communication.

Adam started working for Bigmore Associates on work experience over 15 years ago and after joining the firm full time has worked through every role before taking over as a director 8 years ago. Highly qualified to chartered status Adam combines technical knowledge with strong experience in all aspects of financial planning. As the business owner, Adam ensures the highest standards of advice and service are upheld throughout the business in an ever changing financial landscape.

Julian Strauss

Julian has joined Bigmore Associates as a Senior Financial Planner and brings with him over 23 years industry experience in investments and Private Client Wealth Management. Highly qualified as a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) and a Chartered Member of the Institute for Securities & Investment, Julian’s passion is to help ensure, with the use of Lifetime Cashflow analysis, that clients have an effective risk managed investment strategy in place to achieve all their medium and longer term financial goals. Julian enjoys a good work life balance and loves spending time with his wife and two sons, especially on the golf course!


Debbie Brant

Compliance and Operations Director

Debbie has over 20 years of experience in Financial Services and initially worked with Bigmores between 2010 and 2016 as a Paraplanner. She rejoined the company in January 2019 and was made a Director of the company on 1st July 2020, with responsibility for Compliance and Operations and supports Adam with the day to day oversight of the business. She is Diploma Qualified and also holds the Pension Transfer, Mortgage and Equity Release qualifications and is currently taking the Advanced Papers and working towards Chartered Status.

Maurice has many years pension and payroll managerial experience, including the management of pension administration services for pension funds with in excess of 30,000 members. Recently Maurice implemented auto enrolment for an employer with over 3,500 employees of which approximately 1,000 were either auto enrolled into the company pension scheme or into the Nest pension scheme.


Emma Davies

Emma has over 7 years experience running payroll for organisations spanning many different sectors and sizes. She has led the development of the Bigmore Payroll and Pensions offering, which adds another vital service the group can offer to new and existing Bigmore clients. Emma’s extensive experience in this area makes her best placed to offer a tailored service to streamline your payroll.

Dave has worked in financial services for nearly 20 years, specialising mainly in the corporate sector and working with Small-Medium Companies. Dave brings many years’ experience as a Financial Adviser and Employee Benefits Consultant.  “I am proud of the close relationships we’ve built and the added value we deliver to our clients through being a genuine Benefits and Engagement Partner (not just a broker).  We are always looking for innovative ways to enhance the support we provide.” Dave is a keen guitarist and has been involved in music one way or another from a young age. He also loves sports and enjoys running, football and climbing.  He plans to run the Patagonian Marathon!

Chris Layzell

Mortgage and Protection Adviser Cert CII (MP & ER)

Chris joined Bigmore Associates in 2013 as a general administrator and has worked up to his current role of Mortgage, Equity Release and Protection Adviser. Chris deals with all aspects of the role including purchases, remortgages, additional borrowing, buy to let mortgages and supporting life cover, as well as becoming an equity release specialist. He is also continuing his professional development with the aim to be a fully qualified financial planner within the next 2 years. In his spare time Chris enjoys getting out on his bike and exploring the countryside.

Aida Dragan


Aida joined Bigmore Associates in 2018, as a pension and investment administrator, having previously worked as a financial administrator for a wealth management company and as an Assistant Lecturer in Consumer Behaviour and Business Negotiations. She provides support with research, administration and audit as part of the paraplanning team. Aida holds a BA and MA in Business Administration and is currently working towards diploma status.

She is an enthusiastic team member, providing superb client care, whilst assisting our brokers to ensure the customer journey is the best possible. In her spare time Urszula loves travelling, and enjoys long walks through Richmond Park and along the River Thames.

Clare has joined Bigmore Associates as a Chartered Financial Planner and brings with her over 19 years of industry experience. Highly qualified as a Fellow of the Professional Finance Society she previously worked at Standard Life Assurance Co as a Business Relationship Manager. Supporting Independent Financial Advisers in Surrey and the surrounding area, consulting on all areas of their businesses from marketing and client communications through to profitability and technical updates. Passionate about helping clients achieve financial freedom, she now uses her skills to assist them on every step of that journey. Outside of work Clare enjoys travelling around the UK and Europe with her husband and two sons.

Maria joined the company as an account manager in 2006, and worked her way up to her current position as HR and Operations Manager. Maria is one of the longest Bigmore Benefit employees as brings loyalty, care and comfort to the team.  She loves working with, and developing the different personalities within Bigmore Benefits. Her experience and qualification in Human Resources, helps Maria to understand the many challenges HR face. In her spare time, Maria likes to read, practice yoga, and is a part of the local ballet team.

Georgia Loveday

Georgia Loveday


Georgia began working part-time for Bigmore Associates in May 2021, having worked in primary education for the previous 20 years.  She supports the financial controller across the business in her role, processing adviser statements, invoices and bills and enjoys working with the Bigmore Associates team. She enjoys listening to music, simple crochet and walks in her local area with family and friends.


Emilie Gentleman

Valuations Administrator

Emilie joined Bigmores in 2014 as a financial administrator, having worked in the financial services industry previously. She provides support to the advisers with a variety of research and generates valuation reports for client assets held under management. Emilie has recently moved to a part-time role, since having her first child.


Cheryl Finch

Marketing and Administration Manager

Cheryl joined us in March 2019 as front of house and she also provides administrative support to the team. Cheryl has lived and worked locally for most of her life. She enjoys walks along the river Thames with her dog, Bert and she particularly loves being with her family, friends and especially, her 2 grandchildren who are the apple of her eye.

Thomasin joined us in September 2021 to support the business administratively and front of house. She has gained a lot of experience through her career in these areas. Thomasin has lived in Walton almost all of her life! In her spare time she spends time with her family, enjoys walking by the river and listening to music.

She has drawn on her skills gained in her previous roles as a nurse and teacher, to be able to offer administrative support for Julian.  Michelle’s life revolves around her family and being a  taxi to her two teenage sons. Dan joined Bigmore Associates  in August 2021 as an Apprentice Paraplanner supporting Adam and his clients.  He has worked with the benefits team as an administrator since December 2016 and has a good foundation knowledge of financial administration, which he is now building on and enhancing with his apprenticeship and new job role. Dan is a ‘gamer’ and loves to watch TV boxsets to relax.  He also enjoys football, cricket, NFL and walking his dog, Thor. Growing up, Dan played cricket for Surrey and was also captain of his cricket club at Ripley CC.

Ria gained a degree in Business and Marketing from Oxford Brookes and worked within the field for a year before she joined Bigmore Benefits in October 2017. She brings a number of design skills to the company which we have benefited from, as well as a can do attitude. In her spare time, Ria likes to use her creative juices in arts and crafts with her little sister, baking delicious goodies, and to wind down she enjoys watching a good thriller movie or TV series.

Chartered Financial Planner

Hussain has over 14 year’s experience within in Financial Services, which has allowed him to build up a broad range of knowledge in all aspects of Financial Planning. He is a Chartered Financial Planner and also a CFA Institute Charterholder. Outside of work Hussain enjoys watching as much sport as possible, eating lots of good food and spending time with his family.

Jawahar joined Bigmore Associates in May 2021 as an Apprentice Financial Advisor, after completing his degree in Accounting and Management at Queen Mary University of London. He is now working towards his Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. In Jawahar’s spare time he enjoys keeping up to date with the Financial Markets and keeps fit by swimming on a regular basis. Previously, Jawahar worked as a B2B Manager at Dixon’s Carphone where he acquired the necessary people skills which will be an asset once he is a fully qualified Financial Adviser.
