How did you end up working in your respective field?

When I came back to Surrey, Bigmores approached me asking if I would like to head up the will writing department. With my years of experience in financial services and having taken all my exams to get qualified it seemed like the perfect fit.

What do you love about your job?

The ability to help people and give them piece of mind that their wishes for their estate have been recorded.

What energises you about your job?

Estate planning. I love when, with my input, I can help save the clients family a large amount of inheritance tax.

What is the biggest misconception people have about your job?

People think that because I am not a solicitor that my wills aren’t valid. This simply isn’t true.  I am fully qualified and regulated by the Society of Will Writers and the wills I write are just as valid as any solicitor. Without the high price tag!

What is the best part about working at Bigmore Associates?

The combined knowledge of the different departments that means we can get answers to almost any financial question client might have.

Any favourite local spots of businesses in Walton you can recommend?

I can hardly recommend Lee Walston of Black Lion insurance brokers.

What about a favourite or funny work memory?

When Adam and I first started working at Bigmores over 20 years ago, we drove to see a client together and got terribly lost. 45 minute journey turned into almost 2 hour journey. When we finally found what we thought was the house, knocked on the door and when the gentleman answered we asked to see Doogal and before slamming the door in our face he asked us “Do I look like a puppet?“

What do you think is the most important part of employee wellbeing?

Healthy relationships with colleagues and being happy and valued.

What do you do to maintain your wellbeing on busy days?

I like to do Taichi. And play golf.

What's the top destination on your must travel list?

New Orleans during Mardi Gras
